Danube Day 2017 in Bulgaria

Bulgaria is marking Danube Day 2017 with a myriad of festivities including events in Dolna Mitropolia district, Ruse and Silistra.

Come along and celebrate your rivers at two popular events in Baykal in Dolna Mitropolia. Young artists can join us for Drawings on the Danube Banks, the 17th National Children's Drawing Biennial. Or tempt your taste buds at the annual Danube Day feast in Baykal with glorious regional cuisine. You'll be able to watch the age-old ceremony of tossing a wreath into the fast-flowing waters. Carried out in the village for as long as anyone can remember, the tradition signifies a positive future for the Danube rivers. There will also be interactive river models to explore hands-on and information on the rivers and their European importance.
Date: Saturday 24th - Thursday 29th June 2017

In Ruse, scientists and officials from Bulgarian and Romanian research organisations will gather for a cross-border scientific conference.
Date: Thursday 29th June 2017

Danube Day in Silistra will be marked with an open-air concert by the Urban Brass Orchestra.
Date: Thursday 29th June 2017.
